ALAMEDA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 5, 2005--Proton Laboratories Inc., (OTCBB:PLBI - News), a biotechnology company that develops new practical uses for electrolyzed water, is pleased to announce that they have obtained preliminary results through their application of electrolyzed water to grapes. The announcement was made today by Edward Alexander, President and CEO of Proton Laboratories, Inc.

The company, in conjunction with Applied Environmental Water Technology, has been developing a proprietary process application allowing for the use of various forms of electrolyzed water for grape maintenance. The primary objective for these applications rest in the optional use of electrolyzed water in the control of mildew on grapes which appear randomly on grapes during the grape growing season. Traditionally, sulfur powder has been widely used as the primary method for the control of grape mildew. Proton's preliminary results show that the use of electrolyzed water on grapes, instead of sulfur powder, has mildew control results at least as good as sulfur powder without the negative environmental implication of sulfur powder. The two companies are hoping to develop an optional, effective, user safe and environmentally-friendly medium that can be used by grape growers for the control of mildew problems.

In order to scale up this research, Proton Laboratories is awaiting delivery of a commercial-size unit that will allow for a higher production of electrolyzed water. With its February delivery, Proton Laboratories and Applied Environmental Water Applications Technology will solicit two grape growers in the Napa Valley to further replicate the results that have been obtained to date.

The completion of this research during the 2005 grape growing season will allow for the company to submit this medium to the appropriate governmental agency for application clearance to grapes. In conjunction to the mildew control that is currently under development, the group has also worked towards other grape maintenance applications surrounding nutrition delivery, strengthening of the immune system of the vines along with the production of visually-consistent clusters of grapes.
