RPM Plastic Pallet Design Revolutionizes Parts Handling
in the Automotive Industry

PLAINFIELD, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 21, 2003--RPM Technologies Inc. (OTCBB:RPMM) announced today that it has received an initial order from one of the nation's leading automobile manufacturers for a specially designed plastic pallet that is being used for moving parts through its assembly stations. RPM reported that after considerable analysis and product-use trials the final design was accepted and lauded by plant engineers and their material handlers.

"The problem was damage to parts, such as doors, as they moved through the assembly process," said Randy Zych, CEO of RPM Technologies. "We designed a rubber-impregnated plastic pallet that keeps metal from directly contacting a hard surface such as plastic or wood, which can cause scratches and abrasions requiring repair or refinishing. Rubber strips were molded into the pallet's surface, enabling a half-inch rise, which prevented damage and saved the manufacturer time and money."

The automaker evaluated the product and its effectiveness for several months as RPM helped with refinements and testing. "With the success of this pallet design we expectthe resulting product to find acceptance within a myriad of other manufacturing environments as well," said Zych.

RPM Technologies manufactures plastic pallets and other material-handling products featured on its Web site www.rpmplasticpallets.com. The company has positioned itself as a material-handling specialist, poised to find solutions for its many customers'material-handling problems. RPM has many Fortune 500 customers, providing them
with superior products at competitive prices.

In addition to the automotive industry, RPM sells its products to food manufacturers, distribution centers, steel companies and a variety of shippers in the United States, Canada and South America.

Statements in this press release about the company's future expectations, including the rate of growth of the plastic pallet market, and all other statements in this release other than historical facts, are "forward-looking statements" within the meaning of Section 27A of the Securities Act of 1933, Section 21 E of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934,
and as that term is defined in the Private Securities Litigation Reform Act of 1995. It is important to note that actual results and ultimate corporate actions could differ materially from those in such forward-looking statements based on such factors as changes in consumer demand, satisfaction or desire for our products for a variety of reasons. Such "forward-looking statements" are subject to risks and uncertainties set forth from time to time in the company's reports filed with the SEC including its report on Form 10-KSB for the year ended Dec. 31, 2002 and Form 10-QSB for the quarter ending June 30, 2003 and others.

ABOUT RPM TECHNOLOGIES, INC.

An RPM plastic pallet that costs $11 will last at least 75 trips, or $0.15 per trip
A grade A wood pallet that costs $8 will last about 7 trips, or $1.14 per trip
  • RPM Technologies Inc. develops, produces and markets plastic pallets used to facilitate the storage or transport of a wide variety of goods via by forklift within a warehouse operation or via truck, freight train or other cargo carrier.  RPM has developed what it believes to be a proprietary processing system of producing stronger, environmentally-superior, cost effective, plastic pallets using mostly recycled raw materials.
  • Since the pallets are made from recycled plastic they overcome many of the drawbacks associated with wood pallets including: durability, weight, environmental concerns and the potential for injuries caused by puncture wounds from nails and splinters.
THE MARKET

"The pallet market in US alone is approximately a $10 billion a year market. Currently, 90% of the market is wood pallets and 10% is plastic.  However, the pallet market is shifting from wood to plastic at the rate of 3% to 5% per year.  At this rate plastic pallets should account for 50% of the market within the next 5 years."

RPM PRODUCT FEATURES

RPM pallets weigh considerably less than a wood pallet of comparable size. RPM's recycled plastic pallets can be made to specification and color too. Special features include a non-slide, sure-grip surface and bottom texture to eliminate sliding  pallets and shifting loads. An inter-locking, nesting feature saves space and facilitates easier shipping and storage. Strategically placed drainage holes enable easy cleaning. Undesirable characteristics such as leeching, color-transfer and odor retention have been eliminated.

Pallet Enterprise magazine, conducted a survey in 1997 that investigated the use of substitute materials for wood pallets. Plastic came out on the very top. The three most important considerations stated by shippers were:

  • 1) Cost per use
  • 2) Durability
  • 3) Employee handling, safety and quality
