TASER International Inc. provides advanced less-lethal
weapons for use in the law enforcement, private security,
and personal defense markets. A decade ago, Taser®
became a household word. Everyone recognizes the name
as the weapon that delivers two darts and a disabling electronic
shock. Law enforcement agencies were quick to snap up the Taser
when it was first introduced. Effective at 21 feet away, dangerous,
combative, or high-risk subjects no longer had to be subdued up
close with a baton or chemical spray. Safe to use and providing
a significant reduction of liability, the less-lethal approach
became a standard in law enforcement confrontation policies and
Taser led the way. Tasers
were also snapped up by law abiding citizens wanting to protect
themselves. When combatants are impervious to other less-lethal
means, officer safety and public safety are a paramount concern
and the ADVANCED TASER is currently in testing or deployment at
over 1,600 law enforcement and correctional agencies in the
United States and Canada.
