TELFORD, Pa., May 09, 2002 – Environmental Solutions Worldwide, Inc. (ESW) (OTCBB: ESWW), a company that develops, manufactures, and sells environmental technologies, today announced that the Company completed testing, and has filed a second new certification application to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for a diesel engine and ESW’s catalytic/muffler system diesel Quiet Cat™.

This is the latest application in a series of emissions certification filings to the U.S. EPA and the California Air Resources Board (CARB). The application was submitted after positive diesel emissions tests with ESW’s diesel Quiet Cat. EPA/CARB certification is a mandatory U.S. Government requirement for any manufacturer or importer to sell their engines into the North American market. This application includes the ESW catalyst/muffler combination in the engine configuration. 

ESW is currently supplying Quiet Cat units based upon the successful completion of the first EPA certification.  ESW is on schedule to increase diesel Quiet Cat production and hopes to begin delivering Quiet Cat units for this new certified engine group this month.

ESW had previously certified a diesel engine using it’s diesel Quiet Cat system, and received an EPA approval last March. The comprehensive emissions certification testing requirements included the unit’s emissions reduction performance for total hydrocarbon (HC), carbon monoxide (CO), oxides of nitrogen (NOx) and carbon particulate matter (PM-10). The testing protocol requirement also included an 800-hour high stress durability test. 

Emissions certification tests with diesel Quiet Cat versus certification baseline emissions tests without diesel Quiet Cat™ showed weighted average emissions reductions of 67 percent for hydrocarbon (HC) and 71 percent for carbon monoxide (CO) with the diesel Quiet Cat installed. In addition, the diesel Quiet Cat reduced carbon particulate (PM-10) emissions. The weighted average particulate reduction obtained was 46 percent with reductions of up to 80 percent during specific test modes.
