Dear Readers,
It’s uncommon for us to mail in the morning of a trading day,
as most often we prefer to give you our insight and intelligence
(ahem) at the end of your work day when there’s leisure time to
peruse the newsletter.
But some events call for our immediate response, a collective
dropping of other tasks so as to give our legions of investors
the skinny in short order. Today is such a day.
Long one of our most watched and followed profiles, Universal
Ice Blast Inc. (OTCBB: UIBI) has announced the opening
of a testing facility in the Detroit area. Indeed, that
is a headline that at first pale sounds less than enthralling
but a closer inspection reveals what could possibly be more compelling
information.
To review, UIBI manufactures equipment that uses tiny particles
of ice to clean equipment in a variety of useful and environmentally-friendly
applications. This “ICE BLAST” technology has been on the
radar of large auto makers for some time and we recently reported
a purchase order from none other than Ford Motor Corp (NYSE:
F).
Today, we find out that not only has UIBI added a testing facility
near the heart of the automotive industry but also that the “facility
is provided by a major Tier-One supplier with which UIBI has developed
a close working relationship.”

Ice Blast Opens Detroit Testing Facility

KIRKLAND, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May
7, 2003--Universal Ice Blast, Inc. (OTCBB:UIBI - News), announced
today that it had opened a testing facility in the Detroit area
to improve its ability to respond to the growing needs of its
customers within the automotive industry.
In response to increased quotation
activities, UIBI has opened a testing facility in Fraser, Michigan,
for testing and process development for the automotive industry.
This facility is provided by a major Tier-One supplier with which
UIBI has developed a close working relationship. "This facility
will allow us to quickly optimize a process for customers while
reducing engineering costs in our quotation process," said Sam
Visaisouk, Ph.D., president, who was recently interviewed by Francis

In April, UIBI demonstrated
its ice blast paint removal process for the recreational marine
market for the Macomb County Health Department of Michigan. The
project was funded by the Michigan Department of Environmental
Quality as a viable process for the removal of anti-fouling paint
from fiberglass boats. The demonstration confirmed the environmental
benefits as well as the overall productivity of the ice blast
process. Macomb County has one of the highest numbers of
registered boats per capita in North America.
Rory Clarke, chairman and CEO
of UIBI, noted, "We have previously tested our ice blast process
for this application but this demonstration makes the results
official. As a result of the successful demonstration, we have
initiated discussions with some local parties about a potential
business venture."
This week, UIBI will be participating
in the Rotterdam Industrial Maintenance Show, following its recent
successful completion of a high-profile asbestos abatement project
at DOW Holland. This will give UIBI tremendous exposure to the
petrochemical maintenance sector in Europe.
