PANAMED (OTCBB: PANA)

PANAMED (OTCBB: PANA)

Editors Note:

A few weeks ago, we wrote of our continued search for compelling stories to put before you. After review of a slew of companies, we have one ready for your perusal.

Today’s story is a Bio-Tech company, and as such, we must preface our remarks by saying that we are not scientists nor are we able to confirm any assertions made by the company. As always, we encourage you only to read these intriguing stories and consult a professional about what’s best for you in any financial investment. Please also read our disclaimer at the bottom of this mailing.

With that out of the way, we’re more than a little excited about today’s feature, PanaMed (OTCBB: PANA). Its headlines and news releases are bold stuff and it has our attention with a press release yesterday addressing a new treatment for AIDS/HIV, a disease we know is ravaging the African Continent and claiming scores of lives around the world. Most of us know someone who has fallen to AIDS or has contracted HIV.

We spoke to you of our infatuation with the Bio-Tech sector a while back and we asked Analyst Doug Rogers to share his thoughts on looking at Bio-Tech deals last week. We strongly encourage you to read his thoughts (if you haven’t already) by clicking here.

Also of interest is President Bush’s remarks yesterday in regard to beginning a $500 million program to cut the spread of HIV and AIDS from infected mothers to their newborns in African and Caribbean nations hardest hit by the global AIDS epidemic. Click here to view this story.

We are working on a comprehensive profile for PANA right now and we’ll send it to you as soon as possible. However, we didn’t want you to miss out on their news (below) while we dot the “i’s” and cross the “t’s”.

 ** YESTERDAY'S NEWS FROM PANAMED **

 PanaMed Launches HIV Treatment Program

CAMARILLO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 19, 2002--PanaMed Corporation (OTCBB:PANA) announced today it has initiated a limited treatment program in a single West African nation using "Viro-Net," a therapeutic with potential for treating HIV/AIDS and related health conditions in third world countries. Viro-Net, supplied exclusively by Havel Investments Limited, has been in development for many years. Completion of this program is expected to be a major step in the future commercialization of the product.

Viro-Net is expected to demonstrate a high degree of effectiveness in the treatment of patients in a controlled and monitored environment. Local medical personnel will oversee the treatments which will be conducted in a government certified clinic and will use sophisticated equipment for monitoring patient progress. PanaMed expects that upwards of 60 patients will be treated during the first Phase of the program.

"We are extremely pleased with the enthusiastic reception received from the West African representatives supporting this project. I believe we are on the threshold of making a difference in this region of the world," stated Phil Butler, CEO of  PanaMed. "These people are searching for an alternative to the conventional HIV/AIDS medications used today, most of which tend to only slow down the progression of the disease. It is our hope that Viro-Net will provide a better solution."

About PanaMed

PanaMed is in business to facilitate future testing and distribution of  therapeutics for the treatment of serious health conditions such as HIV/AIDS. The therapeutics use "cellular signaling" techniques to teach the body's immune system how to fight off the invading virus. These products have not been submitted for FDA review and may not be offered for sale or use in the United States.

This document contains forward looking statements. There are certain important factors that could cause results to differ materially from those anticipated by the statements made above. Additional information on these and other factors will be included on future 10-Q and 10-K reports.

 THE SPREAD OF AIDS

According to the World Health Organization (click here for the WHO home page), there were about 16,000 new HIV infections a day in 1997. More than 90% are in developing countries. 1,600 are in children under 15 years of age. About 14,000 are in adults, of whom: over 40% are women and over 50% are 15-24 year olds.

There is a simple, easy-click slide show on the WHO site that reports on HIV/AIDS demographics for the world (click here).

  ABOUT THE COMPANY

PanaMed is a California corporation established on August 28, 2001 with a primary focus on testing and distributing a patented line of therapeutic  products  manufactured by Havel Investments Limited ("Havel") for use in treating certain medical disorders such as HIV/AIDS. PanaMed currently has an exclusive license to test and distribute "Viro-Net" in a single West African nation.  Viro-Net is Havel's product for treating HIV/AIDS, Herpes Simplex 1, Herpes Simplex 2, and Shingles.

Viro-Net can be described as an immuno-modulating biological compound which signals the body's own immune system to fight off the virus by blocking  the receptors of healthy cells, boosting the immune system, and halting the replication of viral cells. PanaMed believes that Viro-Net may provide an effective means to reverse the HIV virus to a non-detect level while providing a number  of  advantages  over  conventional  HIV/AIDS  medication.  The  expected benefits include;  simple to administer (sublingual  application),  minimal side effects, effective against different HIV viral derivatives, cost effective, non-patient specific and suitable for large scale treatment  programs. These expectations are based primarily on theory and results from the treatment of 3 AIDS patients in an uncontrolled environment.

PanaMed intends to conduct a  Viro-Net  based  treatment  program  for 60 African patients starting in mid summer 2002. If positive results are achieved, the company plans to launch a second trial with 2,000 patients and  distribution of Viro-Net to an estimated 2 million people infected with HIV.
