GENEMAX CORPORATION (OTCBB: GMXX)

GENEMAX CORPORATION (OTCBB: GMXX) (FRANKFURT AND BERLIN EXCHANGES: GX1)
Dear Reader,

Today we're covering a company with a great story to tell. A story about commercialization and a story about human compassion. At StockUpticks, we try to feature companies that combine a profit-motivate with an interest in a better quality of life for everyone. That's GeneMax in a proverbial nutshell. The company is developing therapeutics for the treatment of cancer based on its proprietary TAP technology that restores the ability of the immune system to recognize and attack cancerous cells.

A vaccine. That's right, a cancer vaccine. As you'll discover in this profile, the research is in place, the people are in place, the patent and licenses are in place and human trials will begin in the near future. Most importantly, the central GeneMax partner in this breakthrough is none other than the University of British Columbia and that simply says credibility.

A lot of medical insiders are excited about GeneMax coming of age and the company received national media coverage on the ABC News television program "Business Now" on June 16, 2003. (If you would like to view the broadcast, simply go to the GeneMax online homepage by clicking here.  The broadcast is available with a click of your mouse.) And speaking of mice (of a different form) in animal trials 70% of mice treated with the Tap Vaccine remained tumor free, while 100% of the untreated mice died of multiple tumors within 50 days!  There is a lot more testing to be done, but early results seem to point to a product that could be amazingly effective.

GeneMax is a very liquid stock trading near its yearly low. That, coupled with its recent media coverage and its proximity to human trials for its core product, makes us think there is no better time than now to bring this company to your attention.

ABOUT GENEMAX CORPORATION (www.genemax.com)

GeneMax Corporation is a product-focused biotechnology company that is applying discoveries in cellular immunology and cancer biology to the development of proprietary therapeutics for cancer and immunological diseases. The Company intends to develop and bring to market novel therapeutics that treat diseases modulated by the immune system, including cancer, autoimmune diseases and transplant rejection.

The Company's technologies are based on an understanding of the function of a protein  "pump"  within cells that is essential in the processing of tumor antigens, known as Transporters associated with Antigen Processing ("TAP").

The GeneMax core focus is on commercialization of the TAP technology as the basis for cancer vaccines. GeneMax holds the worldwide license to the patented TAP technologies that were discovered and developed by GeneMax's Chairman and Chief Science Officer, Dr. Wilfred Jefferies and his team of researchers at the University of British Columbia Biomedical Research Center.

THE GENEMAX STRATEGIC VISION

The Company's strategic vision is to be a product-driven  biotechnology company,  focusing  primarily on use of its patented TAP  technology and related technologies to restore the TAP function  within  cancerous  cells,  thus making them  immunogenic. As a result,  the MHC Class I Proteins, which is defined as when cancers are not able to cause an immune response because they no longer express key immune proteins on their cell surface (known as "MHC Class I Proteins"), can signal the immune system to attack the cancer.
A

The Company intends to develop the TAP technology as a therapeutic
cancer vaccine that will restore normal  immune  recognition.

GeneMax management believes that its cancer vaccine is the only  therapeutic approach that addresses this  problem of "non-immunogenicity" of cancer.

A
Management also believes that this therapy will have a strong competitive advantage over other cancer therapies, since restoring the TAP protein will direct the immune system to specifically  target the cancerous cells without damaging healthy tissue.

THE TAP CANCER VACCINE

The TAP Cancer Vaccine is targeted at those cancers that are deficient in the TAP protein, which include commonly occurring breast cancer,  prostate cancer,  lung cancer,  liver cancer, melanoma, renal cancer and colorectal cancer. This could include a broad group of cancers, up to 60% of tumor-specific cancers (the most common cancers).

The TAP Cancer Vaccine would deliver the TAP protein and genetic information,  thus "turning on" the defective TAP signaling system within the cancer cells. These cancer cells would then transport cancer antigen proteins to the cell surface using the individual's specific MHC Class I proteins.

As a result, the immune response would be targeted to the entire repertoire of cancer antigen proteins  produced by the cancer cell, rather than just to the single cancer antigen (as delivered by usage of current cancer vaccines).  The TAP Cancer Vaccine would allow the immune response to respond to the cancer even if the TAP protein and genetic information is only delivered to a small portion of the cancer cells. Once sensitized by those cancer cells that have had the TAP system reactivated, the immune system will attack all of the tumor cells with even low levels of TAP expression and effectively kill the cancer with the patients own T-Cells.

In addition, the TAP Cancer Vaccine would generate a strong immune response to any TAP-deficient cancer, regardless of the patient's individual genetic  variability either in the MHC Class I proteins or in the cancer-specific proteins.

GeneMax is currently developing the TAP Cancer Vaccine at the University of British Columbia Biomedical Research Center under a collaborative research agreement.
This cancer vaccine is currently in preclinical development,
with human trials expected to start in approximately 6-12 months.

IN THE RESEARCH PIPELINE

ADJUVANT FOR VIRAL VACCINES
A
GeneMax is developing a vaccine platform to increase the protective immune response. Early laboratory tests using the company's technology have indicated the potential for a very strong immune response enhancement against viral diseases.

PEPTIDE TRANSFER ASSAY
A
GeneMax has developed a proprietary cell based bioassay capable of discovering new therapeutic compounds. This patented assay or test can assist in the development of therapies that can modulate the immune system.

THE MARKET FOR TAP AND ITS COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGES

There is no product on the market equivalent to TAP
Not restricted by an individual's genetics
TAP is applicable to all types of cancer
Therapeutic for matastic cancers
Non-Toxic and unlike conventional cancer therapies, produces no negative side effects
Works synergistically with other treatments

Inexpensive Treatment Vaccine and Inexpensive Production

The "proof of principle" for TAP as a cancer vaccine was established in research conducted over the last 10 years. Results of a series of animal studies using TAP were published in Nature Biotechnology in May 2000. The TAP vaccine is now ready for formal preclinical testing that is required before submitting an Investigational New Drug application to Health Canada or the FDA.

In test trials, up to 70% of mice receiving cancer cells transfected with the TAP vaccine remained tumor free.

100% of the untreated mice
died of multiple tumors within 50 days.

The second leading cause of mortality in the U.S. is cancer, attributed to 500,000 deaths annually. With the aging population, the National Cancer Institute expects cancer to become the leading cause of death within 5 years.  Frost and Sullivan forecast a U.S. $2 billion market for cancer vaccines by 2007, with a compounded annual growth rate of 104%. GeneMax believes the TAP cancer vaccine could secure a significant portion of this large growth market.

THE GENEMAX SCIENTIFIC ADVISORY BOARD & DIRECTORS

GeneMax benefits from a world-class scientific advisory board that is actively involved with the commercialization of the TAP technology.

INVESTMENT CONSIDERATIONS

Biotech deals have taken center stage since the Internet bubble burst in April of 2000.  A tremendous amount of money is now available for hot biotech properties.  Of course some will reach the finish line and some won't -- but for those that do, a huge reward awaits.  And GeneMax has the apparent potential to be something other than a "me too" product.  A vaccine to treat the most common forms of cancer would cause a stir in the medical community of a rare magnitude.  Such a stir would likely be quickly followed by the financial community.  GeneMax is a very liquid stock trading near its yearly low. That, coupled with its recent media coverage and its proximity to human trials for its core product, makes us think there is no better time than now to bring this company to your attention.
