UNIVERSAL ICE BLAST, INC. (OTCBB: UIBI) *** |
 |
Editors Note:
While much of the manufacturing sector
was hard-hit by the downturn in the economy during the last few
months, Universal Ice Blast stayed with its business plan
and delivered a unit to Ford. The Ice Blast machine is working
so well that UIBI has recently offered Ford quotes for additional
units. At Stockupticks, we like that kind of resolve.
Universal Ice Blast, Inc. manufactures
chemical-free, ice blast machines. UIBI's patented "Displace,
Scrub and Flush" technology is reliable, environmentally friendly
and cost effective. The process is applicable to Asbestos and
Lead Based Paint Removal, Precision Cleaning and Nuclear Decontamination,
with no dust and very little waste.
Universal Ice Blast is in a late development
stage and quickly moving towards becoming a full-scale production
and services company.
As manufacturing begins to restock inventory
levels and the economy stabilizes, we think you'll find the Universal
Ice Blast story interesting ... and perhaps the best introduction
to the company is a recent letter to shareholders from the company
CEO. See what you think ...

A Recent Letter To ICE BLAST Shareholders From CEO Rory
Clarke *** |
 |
Dear Valued Shareholder:
Universal Ice Blast has numerous exciting
recent events to report.
Our second quarter of ’02 was our best
quarter ever. Revenue exceeded the entire prior year.
While the company has yet to achieve profitability, the high expense
ratio reflects our transition from a research and development
company to a marketing company and many one-time only expenses
relate to this.
Our ice blast equipment is the first and
only equipment of its kind.
Funded by Ford Motor Company’s Factory
of the Future, our equipment has been delivered and is now operating
at Ford’s Sharonville, Ohio plant, a first in automotive history.
We are especially pleased because, since the initial installation,
Ford has requested proposals (RFQ) for two additional machines
which, if ordered, will represent over $1 million in sales.
Equally exciting is the fact that your
company has received 6 Sigma approval and accreditation.
6 Sigma is a rigorous application of proven quality management
tools developed under Jack Welch at General Electric and is widely
accepted, including in Japan and Europe.
We are also moving forward in the $600
billion nuclear industry. In the current quarter we will
ship an ice blast machine to Ontario Power Generation in Canada.
Our equipment is also installed and operational at Bruce Power
(a subsidiary of British Energy) in Ontario, Canada.
On the patent front, we have filed for
four additional patents in addition to the three patents already
issued. We expect to receive a European patent by year end
and have recently filed a patent to cover new applications in
the automotive industry.
As part of our transition, we have assembled
a team of experienced professionals to handle public relations
and product promotion Howlett Research Corporation
recently issued a research report on UIBI which is available at

In order to keep you informed on your company’s

ICE BLAST APPLICATIONS *** |
 |
Ice Blast is chemical-free, environmentally friendly, has low
airborne particulates, is non-abrasive, has superior cleanliness
and has a low operating cost with unmatched reliability.
What Is Ice Blasting
?
Ice Blasting uses compressed air and ice crystals mixed with
tap water. The system cleaning begins with ice crystals impacting
the surface being cleaned, then deforming to scrub on impact and
then melting into water. Each ice particle becomes a self-destructing
scrubbing brush that flushes away contaminants, using significantly
less water than old fashioned water blasting. Ice Blasting uses
no abrasives, chemicals or detergents in the process.
Ice Blast reduces secondary waste by 95 percent. Within 70 seconds
from pushing the start button, the Ice Blast machine is ready
to work. Crystalline ice particles are produced by the machine
at a rate of 200 lbs. per hour and Ice Blast uses only 20 U.S.
gallons of ordinary tap water per hour with a typical residual
liquid of 2-10 gallons per hour.
Where Can It Be Used
?
Aircraft: Ice Blast can remove paint from an airplane for aircraft
refinishing companies.
Marine: Ice Blast can remove anti-fouling paint from the bottom
of boat.
Ice Blast removes barnacles from water pumps.
Ice Blast removes tar from asphalt spreading trucks.
Ice Blast removes chemical residue from hose couplings.
Ice Blast removes petroleum by-products from valve bodies.
Building Restoration: On one job, Ice Blast completely removed
the lead based paint from the University of Washington's Parrington
Hall without damaging a single brick. Ice Blast does not generate
dust which is very important for toxic jobs.

A PRESTIGIOUS AWARD FOR INNOVATION *** |
 |
UIBI took on a pilot project to clean two New York State bridges
to demonstrate the effectiveness of ice blasting. The motivation
for undertaking the pilot project? Simple, there are approximately
2500 bridges in New York state managed by the New York state Department
of Transportation.
Not only was the project a great success, the UIBI ice blast
technology was nominated by the Department of Transportation for
the 2000 Civil Engineering Research Foundation Award for Innovation.

ABOUT UNIVERSAL ICE BLAST & FORD MOTOR COMPANY
*** |
 |
During 2001 the Company designed, assembled,
and installed a precision gear cleaning ice blast system under
the terms of a purchase order from Ford Motor Company.
All the costs of engineering
consulting and prototype development related to the Ford project
are being expensed as research and
development costs.
The purchase order is for a price of approximately $341,000 with
commitments for an additional three similar
systems. In June 2002, Ford notified the
Company that Ford has accepted the system and that orders for
more systems will be forthcoming. Management believes the
delivery of these systems could occur in 2002 or 2003. During
the six months ended June 30, 2002, Ford paid all amounts due
to the Company under the terms of the
initial purchase order.
As a result of Ford's acceptance of the gear cleaning system,
the Company recognized approximately $341,000 in revenue during
the quarter ended June 30, 2002. Costs associated
with the system, also recognized during the
three months ended June 30, 2002, were approximately $344,000
resulting in a loss of approximately $3,000.
Because of the initial design costs associated with this
project, the foregoing results were in line
with management's expectations. However, management expects
that future systems will provide the Company with margins
that will secure the profitability of the Company in the long
term.
